Scotlandville Cultural Center
THE MISSION
Plant a seed of PURPOSE, PASSION, AND EXCELLENCE (PPE) in Scotlandville, La. and the Black American Community, with an emphasis on the next generation.
THE PROBLEM
What is perpetuated towards the Black American community through the media, movies, music, radio, television, social media, video games, etc... is drugs, violence, sex, and anything deplorable. This problem is not unique to Scotlandville alone. It is perpetuated throughout Black America.
We are not controlling the narrative, and we are not making the decisions that dictate what our children will be exposed to.
THE SOLUTION
The Scotlandville Cultural Center
The Scotlandville Cultural Center (SCC) is the seed that we are sowing to start a new narrative to grow a new generation in Scotlandville and the Black American Community. It will include a Meeting Place, Museum, Theater, Youth Center and a Resource and Education Center.
MEETING PLACE
A gathering place for meetings, special events, weddings, community events, and much more.
MUSEUM
A focus on Scotlandville history, hidden Black American history, and, the Biblical Ancestry of Black Americans (BAOBA)
THEATER
A family oriented place that features entertaining, educational and historical movies that depict Black Americans in a positive light, while promoting biblical principles.
YOUTH CENTER
A safe environment for all ages to enjoy, a game room, athletic activities that promote healthy lifestyles to support physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being
RESOURCE AND EDUCATION CENTER
A database of information to direct the community toward resources which can include employment opportunities and training, family counseling, food, clothing, and transportation.
MENTORING PROGRAM
In the heart of Scotlandville, a community rich in history and potential, the Scotlandville Cultural Center Mentor Program (SCCMP) is not just a program; it's a vision for the future. It's about empowering the community's youth with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive in a world increasingly shaped by technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
At its core, the SCCMP is a comprehensive initiative that provides guidance, support, and professional development for high school and college juniors and seniors as they navigate the exciting yet daunting transition into life after graduation.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
The after-school program offers a comprehensive learning experience for students in grades K-12, focusing on academic support and artistic expression. The program combines tutoring in core subjects with opportunities for creative exploration in the arts (music, drama, dance, painting, etc...). This approach helps students develop a balanced set of skills that promote both intellectual growth and personal creativity.
RENOVATION
There is much to do to get our Center up to a standard of excellence. This is where we really need your help, to water the seed with your prayer and support. We have a big vision but we have a BIG God who is able to finish the work He has begun in us to change a community, one person, one building, one block at a time.
